Waiting for Art - Time for some Emotion
over 6 years ago – Tue, Sep 19, 2017 at 09:09:47 PM

Hey backers,

Just sending a message to keep you all in the loop.  Gascony's is just still waiting on art. We've 12 pieces to do and we're in the thick of the first 30%.  Our artist is working to have all completed artwork in by the end of the month... we hope he can hit that!

In the meanwhile, the rest of the game is ready to rock and roll.  We'll have some mechanics updates in the next couple of weeks coming up but as long as the art arrives in time we should have this game off to proofing first week of October.

While we wait....

Just to help educate our backers on some Lynnvander background...

We started this 'game design' stuff without ANY industry knowledge or skills.  On a dare, I made Albion's Legacy... and after a lot of lost money and time we finally made the game and then re-made the game on my own wallet because of a series of amateur errors.  We have a game plan to release multiple games and then set a schedule to do so.  We foolishly tried to maintain that schedule - no matter what - and managed to sink ourselves into quite a back log of project bottlenecks.

Well... we struggled, and we survived. Along the way we managed to gain the respect of a LOT of backers and... well, we managed to piss a few off too.  Either way we attracted the eyes of publishers that know what they are doing a lot better than we could ever do.

And the hard decision was made.... and that is;

To give up publishing and work hard for other publishers as a tight, design unit.  The transition was costly in many more ways than one. As such, we still have the integrity to honor all the past Kickstarter dealys and have been fulfilling in waves now for months. We're close enough now that we're able to see land ahead on this ocean of insanity!  It's still quite a ride to get there but we're all stronger for it and are happy to know within the next 4 months all of the last 3 years will be behind us in a memoir of "lessons learned".

It's not all bad though.... the 'Lynnvandarians" or the KS ultra fans, friends and now family that we've made along the way was worth every single moment... losing money, enraging backers with delays and attitude, excuses, admittance of faults and not, learning the process, gaining allies, working to recover foolish promises, ignorant of actual costs etc...

And so now, hopefully everyone will read this and understand, Lynnvander is not a publisher. We're happily willing to let another company take that slice of the pie and all the PR, shipping hassles, packaging and service that goes with it.

We are VERY happy to say we are not going anywhere though. With titles and licenses across the board of 7+ publishers, we can say... we've made it and we're here to stay.

And we made it because of you... all the backers that dealt with us and even the backers that decided not to. We're all in this together now.

So.... Lynnvander.... the designers/developers of board games... what's next?

Bring back the dead of course!

We've been hired to work on another project.  It's pretty much done and it's a cool one, I'll plug it here;

If you're a horror fan - this one is awesome!  We love the design we made for it. Remember, we're not fulfilling this! lol  We're simply the designers and we're proud to show it off.

Dynamite is a great company. Please spread the word and pledge if you feel the games merits are worth it!  We love it... although we're biased. ;)

Much love backers,  All for one!

Art work coming in...
over 6 years ago – Thu, Sep 07, 2017 at 11:27:57 PM

Hey all,

The game is really taking it's form. If you've had the chance to play it at Gen Con - we hope you had a great time!

We're writing to tell you artwork is still coming in...

Here's two of the characters... they are stretch goal characters, but we don't push the artist to do them in order.

Hope you like them!  They are from our usual Legacy Illustrator;

M'Lady D'Winter
M'Lady D'Winter

Captain Treville
Captain Treville

We'll have more updates on production schedule, shipping etc in the next update as well as more artwork.

Thanks for hanging in backers!

Art Delay
over 6 years ago – Mon, Jul 31, 2017 at 08:23:25 PM

Hey backers!

Gascony's testing and development is going wonderfully!  We look forward to having sample copies of the game at Gen Con for people to play in a couple weeks!

The downside THIS campaign is in the artwork.  Not manufacturing or anything of that nature, this time it's all artwork.

We hired a company out of Seattle to do the artwork for this game, we got 6 characters in one style and 6 in a different style.  While we tried very hard to character match, styles need to be consistent within each game.  We can have a varied level off style between Legacy games, but not IN the same Legacy game.

So.... we've hired a great artists to re-do all the artwork! We'll have finished art for you in the coming week.

What does this mean?

it means our August delivery will not be hit.  We're looking like more of an October release to your doors. Since we've e-proofing to do (which cannot be rushed) and is solely reliant on artwork - we're expecting all the art to be done by the last week of August.  Then we'll rush the art to the manufacturer for e-proofing.  That should take 1-2 weeks or sooner IF no snags are hit.

We'll have a sample copy sent to us at the office and when we approve (we'll update the whole way) it's 2-3 weeks of manufacturing time and then boat shipment to our warehouses.  That usually takes 3-4 weeks. We hope to be delivering these games to your doorsteps by mid October.

The one bright side is that all the bonus content will come WITH the core game this campaign. Only 1 wave. All at once.

Thanks backers!  Sorry for the snag, you'll be hearing from me throughout August with art updates!

And if you're at Gen Con this year, come sign up for Gascony's legacy and play the game at least!

Closing Down the Pledge Manager
almost 7 years ago – Tue, Jun 06, 2017 at 06:48:55 PM

Hey all,

As the bonus content gets completed from previous legacies, as well as shipping plans etc, and Gascony's itself getting close to completion, we're looking at end of the month for final numbers.  So we're going to close the pledge manager down by the end of Origins (convention) next weekend.

If anyone here hasn't gone through the pledge manager, now is the time. For those that have had some difficulty, we're still working on solutions and will be in touch in the next couple of days.

We look forward to completing this portion of the Kicksarter soon and having ALL legacy material delivered long before the summer subsides.

Here's a pre-order link for anyone you know that wants to jump in last 'LAST' minute!

Finally,

Our friends at Norse Foundry are running with another company for some Magic the Gathering style supplements.  Figured we'd plug it here.

Local Pick Up
almost 7 years ago – Wed, May 17, 2017 at 07:35:18 PM

Hey Backers,

A wonderful backer helped me understand how to make for a local pick up option on backerkit!  Thanks backer!

If you're planning on picking up your waves of pledges at Lynnvander Studios HQ, please select 'Christmas Island' as your shipping option.  lol

To address multiple items - in the past we've had serious issues with shipping costs.  Things are just extremely hefty in cost to ship. Especially when we eat the importing fees. So the items have a per-item shipping rate.  These rates are generally lower than what we're actually paying, AND we've not charged for the packaging materials. Hopefully this helps explain the cost of adding on many products.

Thanks!

Thomas
